Does Brew

I'm contributing to a second blog with my brother, focusing on our love for beer. This includes everything to do with our personal homebrewing, as well as our general love for the craft.

(beer reviews, pictures at tastings).

Cheers.

Sloth IPA

Brewing my own beer is something I've wanted to since I had my first good beer. I say "good beer", because I assure you that AB did not inspire me.

So here it is, my first beer ever bottled, appropriately titled "Sloth IPA" (india pale ale) due to the time it not only took to start after having the supplies, but the time it took to make the beer itself (which is not recommended for bacteria growth). To be honest, it wouldn't have felt right any other way.

That green nugget at the top of the beer is an assortment of cascade and simcoe leaf hops. I am hoping this will add immense hop character to the beer, which is already quite floral.

I have to wait 2 weeks until I am suppose to drink it, but after initial taste-tests, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, and it makes me excited to start the next beer.

I returned from Michigan this week and have been sick ever since. I cannot stand my allergies in Missouri, and leaving reminds me of how great it is to breathe.

Being sick has given me an opportunity to clear out my garageband, find some lost treasures, and delete the not-so lost treasures. Most of these are unfinished, well... like most of the music on here. I think it gives this blog a very raw perspective at the creative process, if only there was a way to push it past this point. This blog is just a place for instant gratification, for me at least, where I can make something, post it, and leave it here, like a time-capsule.

I've also gone back, finding pictures long ago that I had taken. I never take photographs anymore, and at some level feel like I've cheated myself out of physical memories that i can share, thus the manipulation of these pictures, foggy and distorted like an old tv set. No one will remember scrambled television.

Happy New Year to all who follow this page. This is another live take from the tail-end of 2010 by chris and myself. I've been planning a virtual tape release on this page, and hope to have that out by the end of this month. Also, I am hoping to start recording acoustic songs again, as well as some shows in 2011. Oh, and Red Body, that too.

snowed in
These are tracks I recorded in the Winter '09. I had fallen out of favor
with this abrasive style, so I never really shared any of this, but I came across<
it the other day and decided to share before it got lost somewhere
in the pile of music that i've collected these past few years.
I really like "snowed in" or at least how it started.
I feel like its a but too jumbled now,
but I'm past the point of going back and editing it.
The other 2 songs are 'whatever', everything I do musically is an experiment,
and this one came off pissed and angry, I can't imagine I was in a happy place at this time,
but I do remember wanting to make something loud and brash,
a stark contrast from the quiet acoustic creeps I had been and continued to create.
Comments are always appreciated

Here are some more tracks i've been recording live in my basement. They are not really finished works, but not sure where to go with these.

I try to share what i am doing lately, but there's been a lot going on. So I'm hoping that by adding some of these nonsensical tracks, it would inspire me to post more. Oh yeah, its Fall.
